Designing a Master Bathroom - Inspiration and Floor Plans

Well I'm quite excited today because this is the first post on my blog completely dedicated to our house build!!  If you didn't know, we are building our dream house.  To give you an idea - it's out in the country on some acreage.  We have cows as neighbors! (yes, I'm excited about it and we can't smell them - I find cows less annoying than leaf blowers, sirens, car alarms, and neighbor's barking dogs).

We met with our architect recently and saw our first draft of our floor plan. What I am going to talk about today is what we're struggling with in the design: the master suite... and mainly, the master bathroom.

Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop & Link Party #227

You all know what time of the week it is? Blog Hop Time!

My favorite thing this week was that first house plan for the house that we are building was unveiled to us!  I am so excited about it! We met with the architect this week and it is all so exciting (and scary at the same time!). I will be blogging about our house build, when I have more things to talk about, but in the interest of privacy I won't be putting the floor plan on the internet!
If you didn't know, this blog hop is across *twelve* blogs, so by linking up you get a lot of exposure!  We also started a new pinterest board and are trying to pin one image from everyone who links a post with us!
Anyway, let's get on to some of my favorite link ups from last week!  You all have so many inspiring and interesting posts, it is hard for me to choose a few!

Meal Kit Delivery - Blue Apron Vegetarian Review

Have you heard of meal kit deliveries?  If not, let me explain: every week you can have a meal kit delivered to your front door.  The kit is complete with just enough of the fresh ingredients to make the designated amount of food.  Consider it a mix of... grocery shopping, meal planning, and trying out new recipes all in one box!

Today's review is about Blue Apron.  Oh, by the way, Blue Apron did not pay me to write this post, I just decided to write about it on my own!

Napa Valley Home Styles - Beautiful Homes in Napa!

I am sharing with you some pretty homes in the Napa Valley!  One of my favorite day trips is to head to Napa, go eat at Giugni's Deli, shop, and then drive around and look at the wineries and estates.

Five on Friday #4

I'm changing Friday Favorites just a wee bit.  Each week I'll try to stick to general topics... some will always be the same, like "on the net"... which would have an interesting link that I found on the net. The "spotted" category would have something that I thought was cool that I spotted.

I may change the others around, like "favorite food", which is self explanatory... or "personal", that category would have what I was up to this week in real life...or favorite instagram, because I LOVE instagram... On the Blog, for things that I've blogged about before as I know a lot of you are new to my blog.  Okay, let's get this started...

Parisienne Gnocchi Recipe

Now, I'm sure you have all had gnocchi.  But the question is, have you had Parisienne gnocchi? I bet you haven't!  Parisienne gnocchi is actually very different from the regular ol' Italian gnocchi that we're all familiar with.
Parisienne Gnocchi
Parisienne gnocchi is not chewy like Italian gnocchi. It is light and airy. Why? Because the dough is made from a choux pastry dough and not from a pasta type dough.

A Kitchen from the Movie, "The Intern"

I recently watched a movie called "The Intern" starring Anne Hathaway and Robert DeNiro.  The movie is about the relationship between Ben (Robert DeNiro) who is a 70 year old who interns for Jules (Anne Hathaway), the founder of a successful e-commerce website.  The movie navigates through the age-gap.  I thought the movie itself was so-so, but what I really liked was Jules' kitchen!

Five on Friday #3

Well, this week felt like the first week of Spring over here in California.  Sorry for all of those that are living where it snows... but the first trees are now blooming, the daffodils are in full bloom, and everything else is budding out!

1.This beautiful house in Provence!  It is owned by Frederic Fekkai (you know, of shampoo fame).  It was featured in March's Architectural Digest issue.  You need to check it out here
I just *love* this driveway entrance to his house. LOVE.
 2. Napa Valley
We went to Napa Valley this week... just because. It was 80 degrees there! It was so pretty as the mustard was all blooming.  I don't drink so I never go to Napa for the wine, but instead for food, shopping, and taking in the pretty views!
3. Diptyque
Had fun playing around with my new perfume, called Do Son by Diptyque. It has a nice scent for Spring.. tuberose, orange leaves, pink peppercorn, rose, and iris.
 4. Bouchon Bakery
Went to Bouchon Bakery in Yountville.  Previously I had been to the one in Las Vegas and wasn't too impressed... I think perhaps the 110 degree heat didn't treat the pastries very well.... because this time I had shared an almond croissant which was very good, a lemon currant scone which was tasty, and a hazelnut macaron which was also quite nice.  I recommend going here. Oh, the salted caramel latte was delicious! oh yum yum! Check out Bouchon Bakery and the locations here
5. Love Macarons
I leave you with this croquembouche-style macaron tree.

Pink Inspiration for Valentine's Day

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I thought I would put together a post with some pink themed inspiration.  I know we're all dying for some color after the blandness of January!

A Review of B. Patisserie in San Francisco

If you're a longtime reader of this blog, you'll know that I *love* croissants.  GOOD croissants. Made-in-France croissants.  I am a croissant snob.  I will say that I've never had a perfect croissant outside of Paris... until this past week when I traveled to B. Patisserie in San Francisco.

Five on Friday #2

It's FRIDAY!!
1. This Cute Kitchen
The KBIS show was in Las Vegas recently... I did not get to attend but I enjoyed looking at other people's pictures.  Check out this kitchen, styled by La Cornue!

2. Pretty Flowers
I filled my tulipiere again with pretty flowers!! This time I used white carnations, purple mums, and seeded eucalyptus!  I chose these flowers because I knew they would last a long time... I've actually had them up for nearly 2 weeks. The mums wilted but the other flowers are going strong!
3. B. Patisserie in San Francisco
This past weekend we ventured in San Francisco and ate at a fabulous bakery called B. Patisserie.  I am still staring at this pretty picture I took... we had cappuccinos, croissants, and more!!  A full review is coming this Sunday morning!

4. Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop!!
As you may or may not know, I recently joined as a co-hostess for a fun link party!  You all should join! Why? WELL you get super exposure for your posts because the party is on 12 (yes, TWELVE!) different blogs!  You can link up nearly anything (except advertising).  It's on Wednesday nights... if you missed this week's link up, it's not too late, you can link up HERE!!

5. Grease: Live!
Did you watch it this past Sunday? If you didn't, I'm sorry to say you missed a hit!

It was really REALLY good, actually.  I loved how Boyz II Men played Teen Angels!

I think Vanessa Hudgens from High School Musical fame did a better job playing Rizzo then Stockard Channing!  Anyway, if you missed it, hopefully they will re-air it because it was worth watching!

Valentine Heart Macarons - Rose Raspberry Macaron Recipe!

I'm really excited about today's post.  As you know, I LOVE macarons.  I have a wonderful recipe book from Laduree I received as a present one year. The book is seriously so cute but it is full of wonderful recipes.

I wanted to try the Rose Raspberry Macarons!  It took some planning on my part - I ordered rose water from amazon ahead of time.  Let me tell you though - not only do they look cute but they taste good!!
